FARMERSORIGIN SUPPLY CHAIN DUE DILIGENCE POLICY
1. Purpose
FarmersOrigin is committed to a responsible and transparent supply chain. This policy sets out the risk-based due diligence process we use to identify, prevent and address adverse impacts on people and the environment, consistent with the OECD Guidelines for Multinational Enterprises and the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights.
2. Scope
This policy applies to all suppliers across every tier of our supply chain, with particular focus on the origin and processing of coco coir in Sri Lanka and India. It works alongside our Supplier Code of Conduct and our Due Diligence Statement.
3. Governance and Responsibility
Overall accountability for responsible supply chain management rests with FarmersOrigin management. Day-to-day responsibility for implementing this policy is assigned to designated staff, who report on progress and escalate significant risks.
4. Risk-Based Due Diligence
We follow a continuous, risk-based due diligence cycle:
- Map: build and maintain visibility of our suppliers and the origin of our materials.
- Assess: identify actual and potential adverse impacts on workers, communities and the environment.
- Prioritise: focus first on the most salient risks — by severity and likelihood.
- Act: integrate findings into decisions and take steps to prevent or mitigate those risks.
- Track and review: monitor whether our measures work and adjust our approach over time.
5. Supplier Requirements
Suppliers are required to adhere to our Supplier Code of Conduct, to provide information and documentation reasonably requested for due diligence, and to support traceability of coir from origin through processing.
6. Monitoring, Audits and Corrective Action
We assess and, where appropriate, audit suppliers against our standards. Where issues are found, we agree corrective-action plans with clear timelines. Persistent or serious breaches that are not remedied may lead to escalation, including ending the business relationship.
7. Grievance and Remediation
We provide an accessible channel, via our Contact page, for workers, communities and other stakeholders to raise concerns. Where we cause or contribute to an adverse impact, we will provide for or cooperate in legitimate remediation.
8. Training and Capacity Building
We prefer improvement over disengagement. Where we can, we support suppliers in strengthening their practices over time through dialogue, guidance and shared expectations.
9. Reporting and Transparency
We communicate publicly about our approach to responsible sourcing, including through our Due Diligence Statement, and we respond to reasonable requests for information about how we address supply chain risks.
10. Review
This policy is reviewed at least annually and updated as our due diligence practices mature.
