FARMERSORIGIN SUPPLIER CODE OF CONDUCT
1. Purpose and Scope
This Code sets out the minimum standards FarmersOrigin expects of every supplier, producer, contractor and agent that provides goods or services to us — and we expect them to extend the same standards to their own suppliers. Meeting this Code is a condition of doing business with FarmersOrigin.
2. Legal Compliance
Suppliers must comply with all applicable laws and regulations in the countries where they operate. Where this Code and local law set different standards, suppliers should apply the higher standard.
3. Human Rights and Labour
Suppliers must respect internationally recognised human rights and provide decent working conditions. In particular:
- No child labour: no one below the legal minimum working age, and in line with ILO standards.
- No forced labour: no forced, bonded, trafficked or involuntary labour of any kind.
- Freedom of association: workers are free to join, or not join, lawful workers' organisations and to bargain collectively.
- No discrimination: no discrimination or harassment on the basis of race, gender, religion, origin, disability or similar grounds.
- Working hours: working hours and overtime are kept within legal limits and overtime is voluntary.
- Fair wages: wages and benefits meet at least the legal minimum and are paid on time.
4. Health and Safety
Suppliers must provide a safe and healthy workplace, including appropriate training, protective equipment, clean facilities, access to drinking water, and emergency preparedness. Risks should be identified and reduced as far as reasonably practicable.
5. Environment
Suppliers must comply with applicable environmental laws and manage water use, waste and emissions responsibly. We expect coir and other materials to be sourced and processed in ways that minimise environmental harm.
6. Business Ethics
Suppliers must conduct business with integrity. This includes:
- Anti-corruption: no bribery, kickbacks or improper payments in any form.
- Conflicts of interest: disclose any actual or potential conflicts of interest.
- Fair competition: compete fairly and comply with applicable competition laws.
- Confidentiality and data: protect confidential information and handle personal data lawfully.
- Accurate records: keep honest and accurate business records.
7. Management Systems and Traceability
Suppliers should maintain management systems appropriate to their size and activities to meet this Code, and should be able to demonstrate the origin of coir and provide supporting documentation such as a Certificate of Analysis (COA) when requested.
8. Monitoring and Audit
FarmersOrigin may assess or audit compliance with this Code, directly or through a third party. Suppliers agree to provide reasonable access to facilities, workers and relevant records, and to implement agreed corrective actions within reasonable timelines.
9. Raising Concerns
Suppliers, their workers and other stakeholders are encouraged to report any concern or suspected breach of this Code, in good faith, through our Contact page. Reports may be made confidentially, and FarmersOrigin does not tolerate retaliation against anyone who raises a concern.
10. Acknowledgement
By accepting purchase orders from, or supplying goods or services to, FarmersOrigin, suppliers acknowledge and agree to comply with this Supplier Code of Conduct.
