Low EC Cocopeat

Why a low, stable EC matters — and how we wash coir to deliver it.

Raw coir naturally carries salts — mainly sodium, potassium and chloride. A high or variable EC competes with your fertiliser programme and stresses sensitive crops. Washed, low-EC cocopeat hands EC control back to the grower.

Why low EC matters

When the substrate's own EC is low and stable, your feed sets the root-zone EC — giving precise, repeatable nutrition from the first irrigation.

  • Less competition with your fertiliser programme
  • Safer for salt-sensitive crops and young plants
  • Consistent, predictable nutrition control

Washed vs extra-washed

Standard washing suits most crops; extra-washed grades target the lowest EC for hydroponic and high-value production.

How we deliver it

Coir is aged, washed (and extra-washed on request), then EC tested with a Certificate of Analysis on every batch. We can supply to your target EC.

FAQ

Common questions

What EC can you supply?

We can supply washed, buffered substrate at < 0.5 mS/cm, or to your specified target, with a batch COA.

Is low EC the same as buffered?

No — washing lowers EC, while buffering pre-loads calcium/magnesium. For most crops you want both.
